There is no place like Revolution Books.
More than a bookstore, it is a center of revolutionary ferment—
where a re-envisioned revolutionary communism interacts and mixes it up with all the streams of progressive, radical, and revolutionary intellectual life. It’s a place to engage the whole world.
The store proceeds from an understanding that the problem in today’s world is capitalism/imperialism, it will take a revolution to get rid of this people-crushing system, socialism is much better than capitalism, and communism will be a far better world.
At the heart of Revolution Books is the work of Bob Avakian.
His radical re-envisioning of revolution and communism goes beyond even the best of previous socialist societies. His new synthesis is animating a new conversation at the store. Many nights of the week you’ll find gatherings of people from all over the city confronting the biggest questions facing humanity, from how to make revolution in the US to the past experience of socialist societies under the dictatorship of the proletariat to how can people build on these accomplishments and do better.
Revolution Books fills a great need.
Everyone confronts a world where critical thinking is under assault in academia, where religious fundamentalism is spreading like a poison throughout the Middle East and in Christian fascist movements across the U.S. There is a revolutionary bookstore in Cleveland that seeks the truth, that selects its titles based on daring to engage all of reality without a priori blinders?
The store hosts frequent discussions, film screenings, and more. Discussions range from evolution to radical theater to communist political theory.
On its communist foundation, Revolution Books offers a diverse, cutting-edge collection of books on history, politics, revolutionary theory, philosophy, science, economics, the arts, poetry, atheism, and novels.

We ARE BUILDING a movement for revolution, concentrated now in mounting the campaign: The Revolution We Need... The Leadership We Have. The point: to familiarize millions with the goal and character of communist revolution, as it has been reconceived by Bob Avakian, to inject this into the discourse in a radically creative and urgent way, and to make known very broadly in society the leadership of Bob Avakian—giving people a sense of the work he is carrying out, his history and character as a rare and outstanding communist leader, and—on the broadest level—his connection to revolution... and through all this to begin forging a core of dedicated, ardent fighters for this revolution.
